WASHINGTON – Don’t be dumb with smartphones. Boosting security can be easy.
Shopping online personal information is much more secure using a web site’s official app, as opposed to using a browser.
Letting cellphones automatically connect to any open WiFi leaves them open to hackers. The same thing can happen when Bluetooth connections are left open.
Smartphone security advice from Credit.com recommends users install an app to find lost phones. Apps are available for both iPhones and Androids.
Don’t stay logged-on to accounts for banking, eBay or Paypal. Never choose to allow browsers save user identifications or passwords. Always protect access to smartphones with a passcode.
When getting rid of smartphones, make sure all of the data is erased.
