WASHINGTON – Metro Transit Police released surveillance photos that may help to identify the suspected attackers involved in a Metrobus stabbing early New Year’s Day.

Four “persons of interest” are pictured boarding a 93-route bus in Adams Morgan. Metro Transit Police detectives believe the four men boarded the bus in the area of 18th and Columbia Road NW in Adams Morgan around 1:15 a.m. Tuesday.

Once on the bus, two women who were passengers became involved in a verbal argument with one of the men. The argument escalated into a physical altercation between the suspects and the two women as the bus headed toward Anacostia.

One woman was stabbed multiple times and another suffered injuries to her head and back.

Metro Transit Police are reviewing evidence captured on the bus’s DVR cameras. Metrobuses are equipped with cameras not only inside but also outside and as passengers board.

“Metrobuses are effectively rolling evidence collectors,” says Dan Stessel, a Metro spokesman.

Anyone with information regarding the identity of the persons should call Metro Transit Police at 202-962-2121.
