Missing Montgomery Co. girls found

UPDATE: Montgomery County police on Thursday said both girls were found in Wheaton. They are safe and were not harmed.

WASHINGTON – Police are searching for two underage girls who went missing in Montgomery County earlier this week.

Karina Cornejo-Galdmaez, age 12, of the 9300 block of Merust Lane in Gaithersburg and Rosa Rivas- Ascencio, age 14, of the 18000 block of Nathans Place in Montgomery Village were both last seen Jan. 23 at 2:30 p.m. at their respective schools. Cornejo-Galdmaez attends Montgomery Village Middle School and Rivas- Ascencio is a student at Neelsville Middle School in Germantown.

Cornejo-Galdmaez is described as a Hispanic female, approximately 5 inches tall and weighs 105 pounds. She has brown eyes, brown shoulder length hair and has a piercing on the right side of her lower lip. She was last seen wearing a black North Face jacket, blue jeans and a black shirt.

Rivas-Ascencio is also described as a Hispanic female, approximately 5-foot-3- inches tall and weighs 113 pounds. She has brown eyes and black shoulder length hair. She was last seen wearing a gray sweater and dark jeans.

Detectives believe the girls are traveling together and might be in the Langley Park area. Anyone with information is asked to call Montgomery County Police Family Crimes Division at 240-773-5400 or 301-279-8000.
