Crime Report: Woman Robbed While Walking from Ballston Metro

A woman had her purse forcefully stolen from her while walking home from the Ballston Metro station around 10:00 Tuesday night. From this week’s Arlington County crime report:

ROBBERY, 10/16/12, 1100 block of N. Utah Street. On October 16 at 9:56 pm, a female victim was walking home from the Ballston Metro station when she was attacked by a male subject and had her purse stolen. The victim chased the man briefly on foot until she lost sight of him behind a row of townhouses. The suspect is described as a black or Hispanic male, approximately 5’8” tall and very heavy set, with a bald head. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, grey sweatpants and white sneakers at the time of the incident.

ATTEMPTED ARMED ROBBERY, 10/12/12, 1400 block of S. Hayes Street. At 10:18 am on October 12, a subject brandished a firearm in an attempt to rob a sales associate at Nordstrom’s of jewelry. The victim hit a panic alarm and the suspect fled the scene on foot without any merchandise. The suspect is described a black male, approximately 6’0” tall and 230 lbs. He was wearing a black bubble vest with a red shirt and had a black hat with sunglasses on at the time of the incident.

BURGLARY, 10/16/12, 3800 block of N. Wilson Boulevard. Between 7:30 pm on October 15 and 10:10 am on October 16, an unknown subject(s) broke into a business through a back door and stole a 36” Sharp flat screen TV and at least 10 pairs of shoes. There is no suspect(s) description.

BURGLARY, 10/16/12, 1000 block of N. Arlington Boulevard. Between 9am and 6 pm on October 15, an unknown suspect(s) entered a victim’s residence and stole a Bose iPod docking station. There is no suspect(s) description.

BURGLARY, 10/13/12, 500 block of S. 26th Street. Between 8 am and 5 pm on October 11, an unknown suspect(s) entered a residence and stole items to include a laptop, watch and money. There is no suspect(s) description.

BURGLARY, 10/15/12, 1600 block of N. Fort Myer Drive. Between 6 pm on October 12 and 8:30 am on October 15, an unknown suspect(s) forced entry into an office suite and stole two laptops. There is no suspect(s) description.

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY, 10/13/12, 2300 block of S. Jefferson Davis Highway. Between 6:30 pm on September 26 and 7 am on September 27, an unknown suspect(s) climbed through the ceiling to gain access to a A/V office at a hotel and stole a video projector. There is no suspect(s) description.

LARCENY FROM AUTO (SERIES), 10/10/12, 1000 block of N. Highland Street. Between 11:30 pm and 8:15 am, an unknown suspect(s) broke into numerous vehicles located in a condo building parking garage. Numerous items were stolen to include loose change and electronics. There is no suspect(s) description.
