WASHINGTON – A presidential visit will make getting around Loudoun County more difficult Thursday afternoon.
President Barack Obama will be at a campaign event at Loudoun County High School on Dry Mill Road in the evening. But nearby roads will close at 2:30 p.m. prior to his arrival and will stay closed through the visit.
Leesburg police say no one without a ticket to the event will be let through. Pedestrian traffic will be limited in the area after 7 p.m.
The following roads will be closed for the event:
Neighborhoods off Dry Mill Road, west of Lee Avenue, will be accessible via Dry Mill Road from west of the Leesburg town limits.
The W&OD Trail also will be closed from Catoctin Circle to western town limits beginning at 6:30 p.m. Trail users headed eastbound from outside town limits will be able to continue east around the restricted area on trails through the Fox Ridge neighborhood after 6:30 p.m.
The Obama for America campaign recommends that attendees park at the Loudoun County Fairgrounds at 17558 Dry Mill Road, Leesburg, Va. Shuttle buses will be available to transport attendees to and from the event site, beginning at 4:00 p.m.
