WASHINGTON – A crying child apparently led to a mother being punched Friday at a Takoma Park bus stop.

Takoma Park Police say a mother was with her 3 year old at a bus stop on New Hampshire Avenue at Holton Lane around 11:30 a.m. Friday morning when a male told her to “shut her kid up.”

When the 3 year old kept crying, police say the unknown suspect pushed the boy in the head, knocking him to the ground.

The mother stepped in and was punched in the face.

Police are looking for a black male, around 5 feet, five inches, 150 pounds with short twists in his hair, who ran southbound on New Hampshire Avenue after the assault.

Neither the mother nor the son were seriously injured.
