How does your salary measure up worldwide?

WASHINGTON – Most people want to know their salary is at least comparable to others, and now you can find out online.

The United Nation’s International Labour Organization has developed a calculator based on wage data in 72 countries.

It’s easy to use. Simply enter pre-tax monthly wages and the calculator compares it to wages worldwide. For example, the calculator shows that a GS-10 earning $64,000 a year is earning 163 percent of the U.S. average wage and 359 percent of the world average wage, which is about $18,000 a year.

The figures are adjusted to reflect cost of living in each country and the calculations are good only for wage earners, not the self-employed or retirees.
