Shortage shuts down Md. food bank

WASHINGTON – A Southern Maryland food bank in Hughesville has closed and won’t open again until Monday unless it gets badly needed donations.

The food bank needs at least 15,000 to 18,000 pounds of food per week to serve needy families, according to Brenda Dicarlo, who operates the food bank.

While monetary donations are appreciated, Dicarlo says food donations are preferred right now.

Here are the locations accepting donations for the food bank.
