Psy’s latest doesn’t disappoint for weirdness, catchiness (Video)

WASHINGTON — It’s probably impossible to make another “Gangnam Style,” but if anyone can do it, it’s Psy.

His latest, “Daddy,” has all the requisite Psy ingredients: Ludicrous dancing (including with a child and senior version of himself), particularly the signature move; laugh-out-loud lyrics (“You be my curry — I’ll be your rice”); several hundred settings and locations (this number may be exaggerated) (then again it may not); and a hook you’ll no doubt remember for months after you want to.

CL, from the Korean girl-group NE1 makes a cameo, asking Psy, “Where’d you get that body from?” That opens the door for Psy to answer, “I got it from my daddy.” Several dozen times.

Will it be another “Gangnam Style,” with its record 2.5 billion YouTube views? Well, no video from Psy will ever have the “Did that really just happen?” appeal of his first hit. But “Daddy” has more than 14 million views on its third day, so he shouldn’t be counted out.

Judge for yourself. Warning: You’ll be tempted to turn up the volume at the beginning. Don’t do it.
