Military flyovers planned over parts of DC Friday, this weekend

WASHINGTON — A number of military flyovers are planned for the D.C. area on Friday and over the weekend to mark military burials and to celebrate local sporting events.

Late Friday morning, there will be four F-16 flyovers at Arlington National Cemetery for a military burial. There will also be two V-22 Osprey flyovers for a military burial at approximately 3 p.m.

In between, at about noon, there will be a flyover of the Pentagon and Arlington National Cemetery of 20 World War II-era aircraft, to honor disabled U.S. veterans. The flyover, which will feature aircraft including a B-25 Mitchell bomber and T-6 Texans, will depart from Culpeper Regional Airport and fly in formation over the Potomac.

At about 5 p.m. Friday, four UH-1 helicopters will fly over Nationals Park for the playoff game against the Dodgers.

On Sunday, a flyover of four UH-60 Army helicopters will accompany an Army Golden Knights parachute jump and Army Ten Miler Race at the Pentagon. The flyover will take place shortly after 7:15 a.m.
