Families of women killed in crash seek holiday donations for their 10 children

The families of  32 year old Typhani Wilkerson and her older sister 34 year old Tameika Curtis are raising money to ensure there will be presents under the tree for their children this Christmas.

They were among five people killed on Oct. 11  when the Acura they were riding in was rear-ended by a Mercedes near the intersection of Livingston Road and Livingston Terrace in Oxon Hill, Md. Police say the driver of the Acura was the sole survivor in that car. Besides Wilkerson and Curtis, two children — 1-year-old Hassan Boykin, 13-year-old Khadiua Ba — died in the crash.

One female passenger in the Mercedes, 21-year-old Dominique Green, was killed, and the driver sent to the hospital in critical condition.

Wilkerson had two toddlers and Curtis was the mother of eight children. While the community has been reaching out to the kids, friends say they need help making sure there are gifts under the tree come Thursday. Donations of unwrapped clothes and toys, gift cards and money are welcome at the YMWE Center, 5627 Allentown Road, Suite 200, in Suitland, Md.  They are looking for:

  • Three to six months of clothing and pampers size 1 or 2 for an infant boy.
  • 3T clothing, 7/8y shoes, 5T shirt, 4T pants and 9y shoes for a toddler boy.
  • Boys mediumm shirt, 5-6 pants, 12y shoes.
  • Men medium shirt, 34 x 34 pants and 12 adult shoes.
  • Girls 6T clothing, 13y shoes, 7/8 shirt, 7/8 pants, 13y shoes
  • Women 1XL-2XL shirt, 34 x 34 pants, 24-26 pants, 8.5 adult shoe, 11 women wide adult shoes
