It’s no secret that spring is the time for cleaning and summer is the time for tackling your major renovation projects. Looking to change up the look of your home but don’t have the time or budget for an extreme home makeover? There are plenty of budget friendly projects to spruce up every room in your home. Here are some good places to start.
Bathroom:
Your bathrooms are probably some of the smallest spaces in your home. So, why are they seemingly so difficult to design? Well, they really aren’t! The biggest bathroom challenge is typically storage. Unfortunately, that medicine cabinet and small space under your vanity isn’t going to hold all the products and tools we’ve accumulated. You can truly reinvent your entire bathroom by adding some fun pieces that secretly store all your bathroom clutter.
Most bathrooms have empty wall space above the toilet. Fill them with a wall cabinet. You can get a sleek and stylish wall cabinet for under $100. The best part is, they’re super easy to install.
Storage ladders are an excellent addition to any bathroom, as they don’t take up much space. They double as a decorative piece and they can be painted to match your current color scheme. These ladders can sell for upward of $250 but you can get a simple one for around $30.
Kitchen:
The kitchen is all about style. After all, it’s the main gathering place. We all have the kitchen of our dreams in mind but what we may have for the moment is a starter kitchen. But who said that starter kitchen can’t be fabulous, too? Wanting to completely change your cabinetry? Instead of replacing it, which can be very pricey, think about painting it.
Whether you want to go light to dark or vice versa, you can do it for as little as $70 with a transformation kit . The surely beats the roughly $350 per cabinet you would spend for replacement.
After you change the cabinet color, update your hardware, too. This is a great fix for owners and renter alike, as it’s easy to do and you can simply put the old ones back on when you move. Take your kitchen from dated to modern with new handles for your cabinets and drawers for as low as $16.99 for a pack of ten.
Bedroom:
Your bedroom should be your sanctuary. So any upgrades you make should appeal to you and only you. Make your room brighter, more comfortable, clutter-free or whatever else speaks to you. One of the best ways to make your bedroom feel new is to invest in a new duvet. Pick a bright summer color such as yellow or aqua blue so you feel like you’re escaping everyday life. Depending on thread count, a new duvet can run you between $69 and $199. Add a little drama to the room with curtains that flow to the floor and tie in your colors. Beautiful panels will cost between $20 and $40 per panel. If you feel like really treating yourself, get black-out panels that allow you to catch some extra morning sleep this summer.
Outdoors:
Creating a warm and inviting outdoor living space is simpler than you might think. If you’re a city dweller, you may be lacking on the space but you can still create a fun outdoor environment that works for you. Seating is important if you plan to entertain there. Garage sales are great for this. You can get excellent secondhand seating for as low $5 to $10 a seat. When it comes to sprucing up, color is key. Even if you have cheap wooden seats, adding a bright red or green cushion or throw pillow can make all the difference. A set of two pillows can be had for under $30. Chances are you’ll want to relax at some point during the summer. Where better to do that then outside? Give yourself the relaxation piece of your choosing. If a hammock suits your style, you’re in luck because you can pick up one for no more than $6.
