A new year brings new items to area chain restaurants

WASHINGTON — Many people have plans to slim down in January, but several restaurant and doughnut shop chains have other ideas.

They’re rolling out or keeping limited-edition items on their menus in hopes you’ll stop by to try them.

Nation’s Restaurant News reports Dunkin’ Donuts has a new a Chocolate Croissant and Tomato Mozzarella Supreme Bagel, both of which will only be around through early 2015. Dunkin’ also says the croissant doughnuts it introduced in November are selling so well that it will keep them around longer than originally planned.

Krispy Kreme has a Triple Chocolate Doughnut and Vanilla Spice Latte available through Jan. 25.

Which Wich now has a Philly Cheesesteak sandwich that will disappear in mid-March.

Bojangles is rolling out its popular Cheddar Bo Biscuit, which it will keep on the menu through March. It consists of two thick slices of melted cheddar inside a buttermilk biscuit.

Popeye’s is kicking up the spice with the temporary addition of Ghost Pepper Wings.

And Red Robin has a new burger aimed squarely at recovering New Year’s Eve revelers. The Cure Burger has bacon, chili, cheese, mushrooms and a fried egg on top, and you can only get it Jan. 1-7.
