CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) invites transportation enthusiasts and families alike to join together for an afternoon of fun that will benefit abused and neglected children in foster care. The non-profit’s 8th annual Purple Line World of Wheels for CASA, presented by Council Member Deni Taveras, is a Touch-A-Truck and Family Festival that will take place Saturday, October 19th, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at DeMatha Catholic High School (4313 Madison St., Hyattsville, Md. 20781).

This community event will feature cars, trucks of all sizes, motorcycles and other unique vehicles, including: police vehicles, a recycling truck, utility equipment, a TurboHaul bulk trash truck and the Ameribus community health vehicle. Dance to the music and enjoy an assortment of activities for kids of all ages, including moon bounces, carnival games, craft tables, face painting, temporary tattoos and cotton candy.

Attendees also can learn about volunteer opportunities with CASA to provide a voice to abused and neglected children in Prince George’s County or make a direct donation at the CASA information table.  All proceeds from the event will directly support CASA/Prince George’s County.

Council Member Deni Taveras, District 2, is sponsoring admission. From 10am-11am there will be a “Sensory Hour” with no music and lowered sounds for guests with sensory-processing concerns. The first 450 families to arrive will receive a special gift bag.

Purple Line Transit Constructors, Council Member Deni Taveras, Turbo Hall and Amerigroup are major sponsors along with WTOP.  CLICK HERE to find out more about the event and its exhibit, and sponsorship opportunities or see the “World of Wheels for CASA Event Page on Facebook.
