Disney announces new ‘Frozen,’ ‘Star Wars’ movies

WASHINGTON — It’s a big day for two of Hollywood’s most rabid fan bases.

During an annual shareholders meeting Thursday in San Francisco, Disney announced that it’s preparing new installments of both “Star Wars” and “Frozen,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Along with the release of “Star Wars: Episode VII” this December (directed by J.J. Abrams) and “Star Wars: Episode VIII” on May 26, 2017 (directed by Rian Johnson), Disney will also release a separate, stand-alone movie called “Rogue One,” directed by Gareth Edwards.

During the same news conference, Pixar genius John Lasseter also confirmed that Disney is working on “Frozen 2.” No word on a release date for that film.
