2 shot on Metrobus in Northwest D.C.; police seek suspects

WASHINGTON — Two people are recovering after a man shot them aboard a Metrobus in D.C. Monday night and police are searching for the suspected shooter and another “person of interest.”

About 40 people were on the bus at the time of the Monday night shooting near Union Station.

It happened at about 10:30 p.m. on an X2 bus near New Jersey Avenue and H Street Northwest.

Metro spokesman Dan Stessel says the two men were shot after they got into an argument with the shooter.

Metro Transit Police Spokeswoman Caroline Laurin says the suspect exited the bus from the rear door and fired at the two.

The victims, who are 21 and 47, sustained non-life-threatening injuries — one to the hand and the other to the thigh. They were transported to a local hospital.

Police say they’re looking for a slim black male, about 5 feet, 10 inches tall, wearing a red blazer and a black hat.

On Tuesday, police said their investigation revealed that the man was accompanied by a female who walked from the scene after the incident. The “person of interest” was traveling with the suspected shooter.

Transit Police detectives are seeking the public’s assistance to identify both subjects.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts or identity of the persons of interest is asked to call Metro Transit Police at 202 962-2121.
