StarKist may owe you $25

WASHINGTON — Never doubt that one man can make a difference.

Patrick Hendricks filed a class action suit against the tuna giant StarKist in 2013, claiming that their 5-ounce cans of tuna were underfilled. Federal law requires that 5-ounce cans must contain between 2.84 and 3.23 ounces of actual tuna. StarKist, Hendricks charged, was providing only an average of 2.81 to 3.11 ounces. History does not record how he determined this, but you could profit from his diligence.

This doesn’t seem like much, and StarKist hasn’t admitted any wrongdoing, but they did enter a settlement that could net you some cash — or some tuna.

If you bought 5-ounce cans of Starkist Chunk Light Tuna in Water, Chunk Light Tuna in Oil, Solid White in Water or Solid White in Oil between Feb. 19, 2009, and Oct. 31, 2014, you’re in line for $25 in cash, or $50 in vouchers from StarKist.

You’ve got your receipts, don’t you?

Just kidding. You don’t need them, but you could be charged with perjury if you’re lying. Seriously. Head to TunaLawsuit.com to make a claim.
