Accenture buys Herndon-based Search Technologies

WASHINGTON — Consulting giant Accenture PLC has acquired Herndon-based Search Technologies, a big data and search analytics company, for an undisclosed sum.

Search Technologies, founded in 2005, builds search and analytics applications for e-commerce, publishing, fraud detection, recruiting and log analytics fields.

It specializes in search technology for unstructured content, such as social media, video, voice and audio.

Search Technologies has 200 big data engineers and search experts in Herndon, and other locations in Costa Rica, Europe and the Philippines.

Accenture will expand Search Technologies’ presence in Costa Rica with a new delivery center for its 70 big data engineers based there. It will become part of the Accenture Global Delivery Network.

Accenture’s Federal Services business is based in Arlington. It has more than 5,000 employees in the Washington region.
