Chick-Fil-A goes bacon and BBQ

WASHINGTON — Chick-fil-A doesn’t tinker with its menu very often, but it just added its first-ever limited-time sandwich: the Smokehouse BBQ Bacon Sandwich.

It will be on the menu through Aug. 19.

The sandwich clocks in at 500 calories and starts at $5.99. It includes Chick-Fil-A’s grilled chicken, with bacon coated in a brown sugar and pepper blend, on a new Hawaiian-style bun with Colby-Jack cheese, green leaf lettuce and a barbecue sauce it says was crafted specifically for the sandwich.

“The new Smokehouse BBQ Bacon Sandwich is delicious and unlike anything we have on the menu. It was incredibly popular in test markets,” said David Farmer, Chick-fil-A vice president of menu strategy and development.

To go with the new sandwich, Chick-fil-A is also adding a limited-time watermelon-mint lemonade to the menu.

Last year. Chick-fil-A faced a bit of Twitter backlash when it dropped its popular spicy chicken biscuit from its breakfast menu and replaced it with an egg-white grill.
