Double dipping is not just terrible etiquette, it is also a health hazard. Consumer Reports on Health states that researchers found that as many as 10,000 bacteria may be transferred into communal dip bowls when inconsiderate guests take a bite from a chip or vegetable, and then re-dips it.
The magazine also reports that chewing on ice is a very bad habit and causes pressure and temperature changes in teeth. The result may be tooth enamel may crack, opening up tiny gaps where plaque can collect and stains can form. So give up crunching on the cubes.
