WASHINGTON – More than 1,000 cases of bagged salad distributed under Walmart’s Marketside label in Virginia have been voluntarily recalled because of possible listeria contamination.
The recall also involves bagged salads distributed to Kroger grocery stores.
Dole announced the recall after a sample of Romaine lettuce tested positive for listeria in North Carolina.
No illnesses have been reported, but the salad has been recalled as a precaution.
The salad was sold in Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.
All of the products have use-by dates of June 19.
Here are the products affected by the recall:
- Walmart Marketside Leafy Romaine — coded N158111B and UPC code 81131 02781.
- Kroger Fresh Selections Greener Supreme — coded N158 211B 1613 KR04 and Universal Product Code 11110 91039.
- Kroger Fresh Selections Leafy Romaine — coded N158 111B KR11 and UPC 11110 91046.
Last year, more than 30 people died from cantaloupe contaminated by listeria that was linked to a farm in Colorado.
