WASHINGTON – Sometimes, when living a bustling city life, people just need a peaceful place to get away.

Nestled in this busy city is an oasis of quiet that offers just that.

On the grounds of the Franciscan Monastery near Catholic University is a free-standing efficiency that rents for $70 per night.

The Hermitage, as it’s called, sits amid a forest and is surrounded by trees. Its renters are free to roam the nearby gardens or visit the historic monastery church. There are also a number of shrines on the 42-acre estate.

The 350-square-foot structure was designed by architecture majors at the university and it features a sleeping area, kitchenette, bathroom and deck.

There’s no phone and no Wi-Fi. It’s billed as an urban retreat for one person.
