WASHINGTON – It’s a yabba-dabba-doozy of a house and it’s on the market for $3.5 million.
Fans of “The Flintstones” may want to consider buying Dick Clark’s unique, one-bedroom Malibu home, which looks strikingly like a residence from the classic cartoon.
The house, which sits on a nearly 23-acre property on top of a mountain overlooking the Pacific Ocean, Boney Island, Channel Island, the Serrano Valley and the lights of Los Angeles, was designed by architect, Phillip Jon Brown.
CNN Money reports the stone-age design was dictated by circumstance, not a love of Fred and Barney, Brown says.
The Santa Monica Mountains National Recreational Area initially objected to the home being built on property that sits adjacent to the open space.
“(Clark) dug in his heels and said he was going to build a house there,” Brown tells CNN Money. “I came up with the idea that if the house looked like a rock formation, the park conservancy would let us build on top. They liked the concept.”
The home is listed by Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage and does not list an address.
While the house only has one bedroom, it features two bathrooms and two fireplaces, central A/C and a bar. Most of the rooms feature expansive glass windows with amazing views.
