Northern Illinois powers past Miami (Ohio) 51-41

DEKALB, Ill. (AP) — Drew Hare finished 365 yards of total offense, 185 passing and 180 rushing, and three touchdowns to lead Northern Illinois to a 51-41 win over Miami (Ohio) on Saturday.

Overall, the two teams combined for 1172 yards and 56 first downs.

Cameron Stingily added 133 yards and a touchdown on the ground and Da’Ron Brown had 128 yards receiving for the Huskies (5-2, 2-1 MAC), including a 61-yard touchdown. Hare had a 43-yard rushing touchdown in the first quarter and his 1-yard TD run put the Huskies up 51-34 with 8:02 left.

Andrew Hendrix finished with 346 yards passing, 72 yards rushing, and five total TD’s for the Red Hawks (1-7, 1-3), who led briefly 7-6 midway through the first quarter. Northern Illinois went on separate scoring streaks of 17 and 14 points to build a 37-14 lead late in the second quarter. Rokeem Williams added 97 yards receiving on five catches.
