Jacksonville State beats Murray State 52-28

MURRAY, Ky. (AP) — Eli Jenkins and DaMarcus James combined for all seven of Jackson State’s touchdowns, leading the Gamecocks to a 52-28 victory over Murray State on Saturday night.

Jenkins finished with 149 yards rushing, three scores on the ground, and threw for 180 yards and one 30-yard TD pass to Markis Merrill.

James scored all three of his touchdowns for 1 yard to hit a career 40, tying the second-highest total at Jacksonville State (3-1, 1-0 Ohio Valley).

The Racers (1-3, 0-1) scored on the first possession of the game — a 75-yard drive that ended with KD Humphries running 16 yards for a touchdown.

Murray State tied it three times and trailed 35-28 at halftime, but in the third quarter gave up 139 yards of offense and another touchdown, compared to just 11 yards for the Racers.

Humphries threw for 247 yards and two touchdowns and ran for one more.
