Licata 4 TDs, leads Buffalo past Norfolk St. 36-7

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — Joe Licata threw three touchdown passes and ran for another, and Buffalo beat Norfolk State 36-7 on Saturday.

On Buffalo’s second offensive series, Licata threw a play-action pass that found Devon Hughes, who split two defenders at the 27 to score a 92-yard touchdown. Licata threw another touchdown pass to Hughes and one to Ron Willoughby and finished with 229 yards. Licata’s 1-yard touchdown dive gave Buffalo a 29-7 lead midway through the third quarter, and his four touchdowns tied a career-high.

Tony Daniel threw a 17-yard touchdown pass to Willoughby to cap the scoring for Buffalo (2-2).

Terrance Ervin connected with Isaac White on first down with a 68-yard score for Norfolk State (0-4) early in the first quarter. The strike was the only time the Spartans made it into Bull territory until a 12-play drive stalled when Ervin fumbled at the Buffalo 2 late in the fourth quarter.
