Nebrich, Edmonds lead Fordham past St. Francis

NEW YORK (AP) — Mike Nebrich threw three touchdown passes and Chase Edmonds set a school freshman rushing record to lead Fordham to a 52-23 victory Saturday night over St. Francis of Pennsylvania in the season opener for both teams.

Nebrich scored on back-to-back possessions in the first half. He connected with Dan Light with a 3-yarder, then hit Robbie Cantelli with a 23-yard score to open the second quarter. A 35-yard strike to Brian Wetzel made it 45-10 with 11:43 to play.

Chase Edmonds scored two touchdowns and ran for 181 yards, surpassing the freshman mark of 157 set by Xavier Martin in 2007. Edmonds had 19 carries and runs of 44 and 50, each setting up touchdowns. He also had kickoff returns of 65 and 44 yards.

Khairi Dickson ran for a career-high 244 yards on 33 carries and scored two touchdowns to lead St. Francis.
