Wake suspends RB Gibson from team

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) — Wake Forest running back Dominique Gibson has been suspended from the team for violating undisclosed team rules.

Team spokesman Steve Shutt confirmed Gibson’s status Thursday, one day before the Demon Deacons begin their first preseason camp under new coach Dave Clawson.

Gibson is the team’s leading returning rusher, having gained 138 yards on 53 carries with a touchdown last season. He also caught eight passes for 87 yards with another TD.

He and senior Orville Reynolds were considered the Demon Deacons’ top two running backs during spring practice.
