Best College Bars in America? D.C. area has two

Just in time for the March Madness, we discover two D.C. area digs are in the brackets for Best College Bars in America. Really.  There is such a thing.

The bars: The Tombs, in Georgetown, and Cornerstone Grill & Loft in College Park, took home the honors, bestowed by Business Insider.

The Tombs caters to the Georgetown University crowd, pouring cheap pitchers, serving tater tots — yup — and following Hoya basketball.  It’s been around since 1962.

Business Insider called Cornerstone, which took over the Rendezvous Inn space in 1997, “a fixture in the social and night lives of UMD students.” With 16 beers on tap and drink specials midweek, it’s a Terrapin dream. You can even find links to University of Maryland sports schedules on the Cornerstone’s website.

However, this list comes a down point for both schools, with Georgetown and Maryland failing to make the NCAA Tournament this year. Georgetown is  still alive in the NIT, while Maryland  failed to make any postseason tournament
