Time-lapse video documents World Trade Center rebirth

WASHINGTON – As the nation marks the passing of another anniversary of the Sept. 11 terror attacks with grief and honor, the site of the twin towers has undergone a slow but significant transformation.

The new World Trade Center tower has reached its full height complete with its spire reaching 1,776 feet into the sky. And the memorial museum continues to ready for its eventual opening.

The building is expected to be fully completed in 2014.

EarthCam took thousands of high definition images of the construction site and compiled them together into this 2-minute time lapse movie.

The images capture the work at the site from October 2004 until this month.

In a statement, EarthCam says it will donate the images and the time lapse video to the National September 11 Memorial and Museum.
