No bomb found at high school in Fredericksburg

November 24, 2008 - 10:17am
FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- No bomb was found at James Monroe High School after a threat was phoned in before the start of school.

"At 7:05 a.m., the Stafford County 911 Center received a call from an unknown male who stated that an explosive device was inside James Monroe High School and set to detonate at 7:45 a.m.," said a news release from Natatia L. Bledsoe, Fredericksburg Police spokeswoman.

Bledsoe says because the threat came in early, it was not difficult to evacuate the facility.

Students and staff arriving by bus and car were initially advised to stage at First Christian Church on Washington Avenue, Bledsoe said.

The students and staff were taken to Walker Grant Middle School.

Arrangements are being made to take the students back to James Monroe High School.
