Which turkey should get the official title?

WASHINGTON — This year, the White House is asking the public to weigh in on which of two turkeys will be named “National Thanksgiving Turkey.”

While both birds will be “pardoned” only one can be the official “National Thanksgiving Turkey.”

The candidates?

Caramel was born July 8, 2013 and weighs just over 38 pounds. He has a “steady and deliberate walk”, and loves “Bad Romance” by Lady Gaga, the White House says.

Popcorn shares the same birthday, but weighs 37 pounds. He has a “proud strut” and is a huge Beyonce fan.

Editor’s Note: While both turkeys will be pardoned, turkey are bred to be eaten, which means they are usually obese and experience a myriad health problems like bone deformities and degenerative joint diseases, The Washington Post reports. Most die within a year of being pardoned, National Journal reports.
