Totally outrageous: Jem and The Holograms head for theaters

WASHINGTON – Finally. Jem and The Holograms are headed for the silver screen.

Quick background for those unfamiliar: The 1980s cartoon of the same name is about Jem, the alter ego of Jerrica Benton, who owns Starlight Music. Jem, of course, is a hologram. She’s also the leader of an ultra-cool girl band that fights the evil band, “The Misfits.”

Producer Jason Blum (think “Paranormal Activity”) will head the live action flick which aired from 1985 to 1988.

What’s more, you can submit audition and fan videos or photos via the movie’s web page.

For more information, check out the announcement video below. And, beneath that, you can reminisce with the Jem and the Holograms theme song.

Yes, we know. This is totally outrageous.
