Weekend work to affect Metro riders

WASHINGTON (AP) — Metro riders will wait longer for trains on some lines this weekend.

Metro says beginning Friday at 10 p.m. and on Saturday, trains on the orange and blue lines will operate every 22 minutes. On Sunday, they will run every 24 minutes, though trains through the downtown area will be every 12 minutes.

On the green line, the Greenbelt station will be closed. Free shuttle buses will take riders to and from the station. Trains will run every 22 minutes Saturday and at normal intervals Sunday.

Red line trains will operate every 15 minutes between Shady Grove and Glenmont. On Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., trains will run every eight to 10 minutes between Grosvenor and Silver Spring.

The yellow line will have regular weekend service.
