Lanes of D.C. road closed through Wednesday morning commute

WASHINGTON — D.C. lane closures are expected to cause delays through the Wednesday morning commute.

Two center lanes on 14th Street in NW are closed between Constitution Avenue and Pennsylvania Avenue because of a possible sinkhole, the Metropolitan Police Department tweeted. The closure will be in place through Wednesday morning’s rush hour, according to the District Department of Transportation.

“Crews from DDOT and DC Water are currently investigating a condition that has undermined the roadway at this location,” DDOT wrote in a news release.

DDOT has not released specific information about what is undermining the road.

Traffic on northbound 14th Street NW is still progressing through the area, but DDOT encourages motorists to use alternate routes to avoid congestion.
