Ask the Mayor
Mayor Vince Gray was a guest Friday on WTOP's "Ask the Mayor" program.
The mayor unveiled the ballpark settlement amount for the DeOnte Rawlings case, following the announcement earlier this month that the family's $100 million lawsuit against the city had been resolved.
Following a letter from Virginia Sen. Jim Webb, Gray said he wants the arrests to stop for drivers whose registration has expired.
The mayor indicated he is open to raising the rate for taxis in D.C., following complaints from some drivers that fares under the meter system are too low.
With a federal shutdown potentially furloughing city workers -- including those at parking enforcement and the D.C. Department of Transportation -- Gray said people would be able to "park with impunity" throughout the city, and the Cherry Blossom Festival would be canceled.
