ARLINGTON, Va. - A driver who allegedly ran over a man in Arlington is under arrest, thanks to a report on WTOP Radio.

Arlington County Police say 26-year-old Joseph Otuo of Hyattsville had already talked to police, claiming to have witnessed Monday's hit-and-run at Wilson Boulevard and Fort Myer Drive.

The victim, a 60-year-old man, was seriously injured and remains hospitalized.

But when police brought Otuo in a second time, "he actually heard on the radio the description of the vehicle that he had given himself, and knew that it was wrong and he felt guilty about it," Det. Crystal Nosal says.

WTOP's Evan Haning was reporting from the scene of the accident on Tuesday, where police were handing out flyers in hopes of finding someone who may have seen the accident.

"I wouldn't say that he turned himself in, but he definitely expressed remorse for the incident," Nosal says.

Otuo has been charged with felony hit-and-run and obstruction of justice. He is being held without bond.
