D.C. to ask Bush administration for stimulus money

December 11, 2008 - 1:01pm
Mark Segraves, WTOP Radio

WASHINGTON - D.C. Mayor Adrian Fenty tells WTOP he is preparing an official request for stimulus funds from the Bush administration.

Fenty would not provide specific details on the amount of money he will request or what the funds will go toward.

The request will be made "in the next several days," Fenty tells WTOP.

The news comes on the heels of a report by D.C. Appleseed, a non-profit organization, which found the District has a structural deficit of $1 billion a year because of pressures and restrictions imposed by the federal government.
