Former D.C. Councilman arrested in Georgetown

October 9, 2008 - 11:51pm
Mark Segraves, WTOP Radio

WASHINGTON - Former D.C. Councilman Harold Brazil has been arrested on a simple assault charge Thursday night in Georgetown.

D.C. Police spokesperson Traci Hughes says Brazil was arrested after allegedly assaulting an employee at Jinx Proof tattoo parlor on the 3300 block of M Street NW around 7:30 p.m. Thursday night.

Brazil was an At-Large Councilmember who also represented Ward 6 during his tenure on the D.C. City Council from 1991 to 2005. Brazil was a big proponent of bringing baseball back to the District.

He has been practicing law since losing his re-election bid in 2004.
