Accident Involving Police Car, Bus Sends 7 to Hospital

June 11, 2007 - 5:43am
WASHINGTON - An early morning accident involving a police cruiser and a Metro bus sent seven people to the hospital with neck and back injuries.

"The early report that we got is that the police cruiser made a sudden right turn in front of the bus," says Metro spokesperson Joanne Ferreira.

It happened at 12:25 a.m. Monday at the corner of Wheeler Road and Mississippi Avenue in Southeast as the bus traveled in the curb lane.

Ferreira says of the 30 passengers Bus 2144, 14 claimed to be hurt but only seven were transported to the hospital.

No one in the police car was injured. The accident is still under investigation. The bus operator was not charged in the low-speed accident.
