Family seeks funeral help after sisters died in Oxon Hill crash

WASHINGTON — A family is seeking help with funeral costs after two sisters were among those who died in an Oxon Hill, Maryland, crash Friday.

The family of 32-year-old Typhani Wilkerson and 34-year-old Tameika Curtis needs help paying for the sisters’ funeral services. The women were two of the five people who died in the rear-end collision.

“The family is really struggling right now,” says Shaun Reid of Shaun A. Reid Funeral Services and Memorial Chapel. “They don’t have the means to bury two [sisters] at the same time.”.

Wilkerson is survived by two children — a 1- and 2-year-old. Curtis’ eight children range in age from six weeks to 15 years old.

“My firm and I — we’ve donated a large portion of our time and products and merchandise to support them,” Reid says.

But, Reid says financial help from the community for joint services would help give the sisters a decent, dignified burial.

“The family is doing the best it can,” Reid says.

Investigators say it appears an Acura in which Wilkerson and Curtis were passengers was stopped at a traffic light when it was rear-ended by a Mercedes near the intersection of Livingston Road and Livingston Terrace at about 9:40 p.m. Friday.

Police say the driver of the Acura was the sole survivor in that car. Wilkerson, Curtis and two children — 1-year-old Hassan Boykin, 13-year-old Khadiua Ba — died in the crash.

One female passenger in the Mercedes was killed and she has been identified as 21-year-old Dominique Green.

Police say the driver of the Mercedes is in critical condition and is responsible for the crash.

Any money remaining after the services will go to assist the sisters’ combined 10 surviving children.
