‘Sovereign citizen’ house catches fire during eviction

WASHINGTON — A man whom the Prince George’s County police were trying to evict on Thursday barricaded himself inside and declared himself “a sovereign citizen” before his home caught fire.

ABC7 reports that police heard several loud pops inside the house on Prospect Place, in Glenn Dale, before the man announced that he was a “sovereign citizen.” Shortly thereafter, smoke emanated from the house, andc the police called the Prince George’s County Fire and EMS.

The man soon came out of the house to escape the smoke, and he was arrested. The police didn’t say what he had been charged with.
