WASHINGTON — Final preparations are underway for Tuesday night’s Concert for
Valor
on the National Mall, which will air live on HBO. With stars
including Bruce Springsteen, Eminem and Rhianna, a huge crowd is expected for
the free
three-hour concert.

The show begins at 7 p.m., but gates will open at 10 a.m. at 4th, 7th and 12th
Streets Northwest and Southwest and 14th and 15th Streets Northwest. The
stage is at 4th street Northwest.

Security screenings are likely to produce long lines, so concert-goers should
bring patience.

The list of things not to bring includes bikes — bicycles are not allowed at
the concert. Also prohibited are hard-shelled coolers and glass containers. No
folding chairs, tables or tents, either. And no pets other than service dogs.
Items considered safety hazards are also banned, including fireworks, laser
pointers, mace, pepper spray and weapons of any kind.

Other performers will include Metallica, Carrie Underwood, Jessie J, The Black
Keys, Dave Grohl, Jennifer Hudson and The Zac Brown Band.

Organizers say the concert is intended to honor the courage and sacrifice of
America’s veterans and their families.
