LAS VEGAS (AP) — A Nevada judge has postponed trial and scheduled a competency hearing for a 25-year-old man accused of firing a gun while trying to steal costumes and props from “Thunder From Down Under” male revue cast members at a resort on the Las Vegas Strip.
Joey Kadmiri also could get a new lawyer appointed Thursday, after his attorney, Joshua Tomsheck, withdrew from the case.
Kadmiri told Clark County District Judge Jerome Tao that he wants to represent himself.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports (http://bit.ly/1rMzgni ) that Kadmiri said he believes his lawyer and prosecutors are conspiring against him with a plea deal to avoid trial on felony burglary, robbery, battery and weapon charges.
Kadmiri has pleaded not guilty in the March 18 incident at the Excalibur Hotel and Casino.
“Thunder From Down Under” cast members restrained Kadmiri until police arrived.
