PARAMUS, N.J. (AP) — The majors are over. Rory McIlroy still has work to do.

Coming off back-to-back majors, McIlroy says he wants to finish the PGA Tour season off strong. That means extending his amazing run over the next four weeks in the FedEx Cup playoffs, which starts Thursday at The Barclays.

McIlroy is coming off three straight victories, and they were big ones — the British Open, a World Golf Championship and the PGA Championship. At stake over the next month is a $10 million prize for winning the FedEx Cup.

As well as he is playing, some good timing is involved. Two years ago, McIlroy won two straight playoff events and still didn’t win the FedEx Cup because he tied for 10th at The Tour Championship.
