Dog rescued from Thailand missing in D.C.

WASHINGTON – A dog that escaped the illegal dog meat market in Thailand and was trying to make a new home in Maryland is missing.

A “Help Find Cookie” Facebook page has been set up to track the wheaten terrier’s movements. A Nov. 10 posting says the dog may have been spotted in the area of Loughboro and Chain Bridge roads near American University.

According to the page, Cookie ran away from his new home in Kensington, Maryland, on Oct. 22. He was brought to the U.S. in early October after he was rescued from Thailand.

Cookie’s new owner is offering a reward for his return. Posters warn that the pooch is shy and might run if chased.

He is believed to be seeking shelter under decks along Loughboro Road in the District’s Spring Valley neighborhood.
