Victim in fatal Olney crash identified

WASHINGTON — A Laytonsville, Maryland woman died in a crash in Olney, Maryland early Monday.

Montgomery County police identify the woman as Leanna L. Muller, 51.

Muller was trapped in her 2010 Toyota RAV4 on Md. 108/Olney-Laytsonville Road after the 5:29 a.m. crash at Volunteer Drive, the road leading to the OBGC Community Park.

Police say the other driver, Kenneth James Turner, Jr., 25, of Mount Jackson, Virginia, was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Turner’s 2001 Ford F250 pickup truck drifted off westbound Md. 108, then came back onto the roadway. The truck then crossed the double yellow line and struck Muller’s SUV.

Police say Turner, who was in a company truck, has worked overnight as a paving worker for the Francis O Day Co. and was on the way to drop off equipment.

Police say drugs and alcohol were not factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.

Anyone with information about the crash can call police at 240-773-6620.

All lanes of Md. 108 between Brookeville Road and Georgia Avenue were closed for more than five hours.
