Del Frisco’s Grille will be the first new retail operation to open at Pike & Rose, the massive mixed-use development under construction at the former Mid-Pike Plaza in White Flint/North Bethesda.

The highly anticipated iPic movie theater destined for the project may not be too far behind.

Del Frisco’s, which serves “twists on American comfort cuisine,” according to a press release, hopes to open in a few weeks and will host a VIP grand opening party on Sept. 18.

It’s located on the ground floor of a building on 11800 Grand Park Avenue, the new street developer Federal Realty built off of Old Georgetown Road a block west of Rockville Pike.

Above it in the same building will be a Sport&Health club, expected to open in December, and AMP, the concert venue that will be operated by Strathmore and opened to private events this fall. It will start hosting performances in March 2015.

Pike & Rose General Manager Aj Coffee told attendees of a Wednesday community meeting that the iPic Theaters location will open in the building a few weeks before Nov. 21. The theater wants to be set for the Nov. 21 release of the next “Hunger Games” movie.

Federal Realty is completing Phase One of its Pike & Rose project, which when completely built out will include 430,000 square feet of retail, 1,500 new residential units and 1.1 million square feet of office space and a hotel.

The PerSei apartment building, across Grand Park Avenue from Del Frisco’s Grille and the movie theater, opened to tenants earlier this year.
