Andrews Says Leggett’s Grant To Choice Hotels Earned Him Campaign Donation – Councilmember and county executive candidate Phil Andrews said he thinks it’s likely that Choice Hotels Chairman Stewart Bainum, Bainum’s wife and Choice business partners donated $17,000 to Isiah Leggett’s campaign as a form of payback for the county’s $3.1 million grant to the company. The county gave Choice Hotels the money to smooth its move from Silver Spring to Rockville. Leggett’s campaign said Andrews’ charge isn’t true — Bainum has been a longtime supporter of Leggett and other Democratic candidates. [Washington Post]
Visual Preference Survey Open Until June 16 – The Planning Department has opened its visual preference survey until June 16 and posted up-to-date results. The survey asks which kinds of densities, open spaces and streetscaping people in different Bethesda neighborhoods think are most appropriate. Designated Driver Service – Montgomery County is once again participating in the Be My Designated Driver program, which allows those too drunk to drive to call a service that will provide a ride home and a second driver to drive the person’s car home, if necessary. [BeMyDD]
