Could Tiger’s Golf Tourney Affect Primary Voting? – Probably not. But Montgomery County Board of Election officials say it might be worthwhile for voters near Congressional Country Club to vote early. That’s because the June 24 primary day coincides with the Tuesday practice round of the Quicken Loans National, the tournament put on by the Tiger Woods Foundation. About 7,800 spectators showed up to last year’s Tuesday practice round, much less than the 40,000 who showed up during Saturday’s third round. There are eight voting precincts near Congressional that could be affected by tournament traffic. [The Gazette]

Original Haven Pizzeria Owner Blames Partners For Restaurant’s Decline – Original Haven Pizzeria owner Tiger Mullen has bought back the restaurant (7137 Wisconsin Ave.). He’s planning a new name and new menu. And he didn’t hold back when criticizing the partners he sold the restaurant to in December 2012. Mullen said “the guys that bought it from me didn’t know anything about the restaurant business or pizza or wines,” before detailing his issues with the “absentee owners” who Mullen said let the quality of the restaurant decline. Mizeur Proposes County-Owned Utility Systems In Package Aimed At Pepco – Democratic gubernatorial candidate Heather Mizeur said she would “reign in” Maryland’s granting of indefinite franchises to power utilities, appoint consumer-minded experts to the state’s Public Service Commission and make it easier for counties to start their own utility systems and electric cooperatives.
